I had to control my breathing. I knew I should have made Jax go back home with me. Instead, we were now inside of a cell. Mom was going to kill us if these fairies didn’t do it first.
“Jamie, what are were going to do?” I heard the fear in Jax’s voice.
“We’re going to figure out a way to get out of here.”
“You’re not prisoners.”
“Then why are we in a cell, Pearl?”
“I needed you to be somewhere to listen. I knew if I told you yesterday what you needed to hear, you would have left. You are a lot like your mother when she was your age.”
“What is it that made you think it was a good idea to take us from our rooms and put us in a cell?”
“I realize that was overly dramatic on my part. But, we need you. Both you and Jax.”
“For what?”
“Our world is dying, and the only ones that can help to restore it are the children of Judith.”
“What?”
“See, the world was created because of your mother. When she was younger, she needed a place to escape. So, with her imagination, she created our fey world. It was also a place for fairies who had been banned from their land by the fairy queen for not doing her bidding. This place protects us and gives us life and a place to raise our young fairielings.”
I couldn’t speak. There was no way my mom was the same, Judith. Dad had to make her go on his work trip with him. She would have been fine staying home and taking care of us. She never did anything fun for herself, although we tell her all the time to think of herself. The fact that Pearl was saying my mom created this world was beyond me.
“Pearl, I think you have the wrong Judith. There is no way my mom created this world. Please let us go.
“I will as soon as we’ve talked, and you can choose what you’d like to do. You are the children of Judith, who used to be called Judith Craig and now is Judith Blue. Our world is dying because Judith has forgotten about us. This happens when children grow up and lose their imaginations. The worlds they created dies, and the inhabitants either die alongside the world or they are forced to wonder. For fairies, our only other choice would be to beg the queen of fairies to come back to her world.”
“If children create worlds, then why is there a queen of fairies?”
“Not all worlds are created by children. The original world of fairies existed long before humans. But, that’s a story for another time. You and Jax have to take over and rule our world so our home will heal.”
“We have a life and a world of our own. We can’t just leave that behind. Our mother doesn’t even know we’re here. We’re children ourselves.”
“You won’t have to completely leave your world behind. I’m going to open the door and will be upstairs. You can either come upstairs if you choose to take this mission or when you exit this room you can use your key to go through the door to your left. It will take you back to your world.”
Once she left, we just sat there in silence for what felt like hours.
“Jamie, what do you want to do?”
“Jax, I want to go home but I also don’t want them to lose their home because of us. I honestly don’t know what to do.”
“Then let’s sit here and talk through it and make an informed decision as you always say.”
What do you all think they should do? If they stay, what adventures do you want to see them have?

I definitely want to know the story of Judith. Her imagination had to be amazing to create such a world. I hope they decide to stay and help. Also, I need to know if time moves at the same pace in the fairy world as it does in their world. Or does it move slower?
